Okay, so I guess I'm the culprit that founded Steel Canyon back in the Spring of 2002…in an apartment, on a credit card, with a baby on the way. Holy crow what a ride it's been! But hey, it worked and look where we are now. You gotta look outside the box and take the risks.

Creativity has always been in my bones, I'll admit it. But when I moved out to LA back in '97 and a great friend hooked me up as an assistant post supervisor at a pretty reputable post house, I was in luck. The company did some great consumer trailers for the studios, episodic promos for a number of networks, syndicated packages, marketing campaigns, you name it. I put my nose to the grindstone, stayed late at night learning the Avid, and six months later I was given my first break editing.

Right place, right time sort of thing. No looking back. It's thirteen years later and I'm running a similar company. Very cool. Somebody up there is watching me. Probably a few. Thanks!

After studying at SVA, I moved to Wales (Cymru) to study History and Archaeology at Bangor University. I don't actually know how to speak Welsh…words with no vowels always confuse me. Now I'm back in NY cutting away at Steel Canyon. It's pretty sweet working in such a creative environment and getting to explore another one of my passions everyday. Final Cut is a beast!

I'm into classic films. I've seen almost all of Kurosawa's films. Seven Samurai is mos def my fav. But if you haven't seen High and Low... Netflix it! Other most excellent directors Bergman, Godard, Kubrick and Hudson… Favorite living/ born '31 or later filmmakers, Wes Anderson, Terry Gilliam, Takeshi Kitano, Jim Jarmusch and Guy Richie. I can't tolerate people who hate black & white or subtitle movies. Only exception to not liking subtitles is if you can speak every language... Including Esperanto... Then you are just brutally awesome! To Agnès Guillemot and the unsung heroes of French New Wave editing, I tip my hat to you.

I'm a ancient history buff. My focuses are Classical Antiquity and Iron Age Europe. I mean come on,  you can't tell me being a Roman legionnaire running into a wall of barbarian Gauls isn't epic (yes, I know they weren't truly barbarian). People tend to get annoyed when they watch period pieces with me cause I can't help but pick out historical inaccuracies. I'm learning to hold my tongue…lol. But yeah, if you are are makin' historical documentaries or fiction hit me up.

I think Nietzsche said it best, "Without music, life would be a mistake.". I've directed and edited a few music videos, always a bunch of fun. I have a wide range of musical tastes. Everything from Classical to Drum and Bass and Bossa Nova to Death Metal. Maybe you'll see me sometime bobbin my head at some dub-step show in BK or sweeten' at some dance party downtown.

If you want to get pwnd in Call of Duty... My PSN is CaptHaddocks...Here's looking at you kid.
